ANNA MARIA ISLAND • STAY PLANNING
Anna Maria Island with Kids
A family trip is easier when the everyday details are settled before you arrive. Choose a rental around sleeping arrangements and beach access, leave room for rest during the day and keep an alternative plan for weather that changes your beach schedule.
Choose a home around your family
Start with the ages of the children and the people travelling with them. A separate guest residence may suit grandparents or another family, but it may not suit parents who need young children close by at night. Look at bedroom locations, connecting doors and stairs before booking.
Island Life Villa
Five bedrooms accommodate up to 10 guests across a main house and attached guest residence, rented together as one property. There are two kitchens, a waterfront deck and a heated pool. A seven-night minimum and seasonal arrival rules apply; check the calendar for your trip.
For a longer stay, Happy Place has six bedrooms and a 30-night minimum. Neither property should be assumed to include baby equipment, childproofing or accessibility features. Ask about the exact equipment you need.
Make beach days manageable
Check the route from the rental to a public beach entrance with the things you will carry: towels, shade, drinks and a buggy if needed. A short distance on a map can still involve a busy crossing or a route that is awkward with equipment.
Our beach access guide helps you compare facilities. Manatee Public Beach is worth considering when a playground and picnic facilities would help your day; check current park information before setting out.
Follow posted beach warnings and current conditions. An adult should supervise children around water, including at the rental pool. Do not rely on a property photo to establish what barriers or alarms are present.
Keep outings flexible
A short outing can be enough between beach visits. Browse the shopping guide or compare boat tours. Ask operators about minimum ages, life jackets, toilets and their weather cancellation policy before booking with children.
Leave time for lunch and a break back at the house. If a storm changes your plans, avoid replacing one long outdoor activity with another that depends on the same weather. Check the forecast and the operator’s advice.
Sort transport and meals early
Confirm car seats with your transport provider and check whether your rental has enough parking. If you plan to use the trolley, review the current route and return service before leaving the car behind.
For meals, compare the kitchen equipment with what you expect to cook. When eating out, ask the restaurant about children’s options, seating and reservations. The Holmes Beach restaurant guide offers places to investigate near a Holmes Beach base.
Questions before you book
Are the rentals childproofed?
Do not assume so. Ask the manager about stairs, balconies, pool access and any equipment you need for your children.
Can we request a cot or high chair?
Ask the property manager whether equipment is supplied or can be arranged, including any cost. Availability is specific to the property and dates.
Which beach should we choose with children?
Choose around current conditions, the access route and the facilities your family needs. Our beach access guide is a useful starting point; follow local warnings when you arrive.
