Anna Maria Island beach access and parking
Choose your beach entrance with the whole day in mind. The nearest stretch of sand may suit a short walk, while a longer visit with children or someone who needs mobility support calls for a closer look at facilities. Check the route from your rental, where you can park and what you will need to carry.
Compare facilities before you set out
Manatee County lists Coquina Beach, Cortez Beach and Manatee Public Beach as its lifeguarded beaches. Check the staffed area and current conditions when you arrive. A property’s beach view does not tell you whether its nearest access point has lifeguards or public facilities.
| Beach | Facilities to plan around | Before leaving your rental |
|---|---|---|
| Manatee Public Beach, Holmes Beach | County-listed parking, restrooms, showers, concessions and a trolley stop. The county also lists beach wheelchairs and a wheelchair beach mat. | Check the county beach page for equipment collection details and current information. |
| Coquina Beach, Bradenton Beach | County-listed parking, restrooms, showers, picnic areas, a playground, concessions and a trolley stop. Beach wheelchairs are listed at the concession stand. | Use the Coquina Beach page to check facilities and plan which entrance to use. |
| Cortez Beach, Bradenton Beach | The city describes several access points in the northern part of Bradenton Beach. The county includes Cortez among its lifeguarded beaches. | Check the city beach guide and confirm the facilities at your chosen entrance instead of assuming they match Coquina. |
For a north-end beach visit, check the specific public entrance and the route to it. The county’s lifeguarded-beach list does not include the City of Anna Maria. Do not assume that an access path offers the same facilities as Manatee Public Beach or Coquina.
Parking and the walk to the sand
Look up the entrance you intend to use before you drive. Follow the signs at the parking location for permitted spaces, time limits and any payment requirements. A marked space near an access path is not a guarantee that parking will be available when you arrive.
If you are walking from your rental, trace the actual route rather than judging distance from a photograph. Note road crossings and the surfaces between the house and the beach. Think about whether that walk still works when you are carrying chairs or returning with tired children.
Our trolley and bus guide can help you consider an alternative to driving. Check the stop, service details and what you can bring before setting off with beach equipment.
Beach wheelchairs and access mats
The county lists no-charge beach wheelchair loans at Manatee Public Beach and Coquina on a first-come, first-served basis, with identification held during the loan. Manatee Public Beach also has a beach mat north of the Anna Maria Beach Café. Check the linked county pages before travelling for collection arrangements and equipment availability.
Tell the beach staff what assistance you need and ask about the route from parking to the equipment. A beach mat or wheelchair listing does not establish that every part of the beach or every facility will suit your needs.
Check conditions on the day
Use Manatee County’s beach-conditions page for its daily reporting service and water-quality information. Conditions can change quickly. The county says flags at lifeguard towers take precedence over online reports; follow posted warnings and lifeguard instructions.
For the county’s staffed-beach information and contact details, see Beach Patrol.
Use beach access to help choose your rental
Ask which public entrance you would use from a home you are considering. Waterfront can mean a bay or canal setting; it does not necessarily mean a sandy beach outside. Check any claimed private access in the listing and with the company managing that property.
